Run Dry is a photographic series that comes out of a long term ongoing project documenting the current state of the Rio Grande River. The photographs in Run Dry depict the riverbed south of Hatch, NM, where water-intensive agriculture routinely consumes the water supply. Practices of poor water management along with an increasingly arid environment due to climate change amount to a 100-mile stretch of river that runs dry for several months of the year. The absence of water in the photographs reveals traces of organisms, including humans, that depend on the river for sustenance. The photographs act as a document of the present within a rapidly changing landscape.
